P4: 
Brand strategist - This was completed as a group with William Glazer and Saul Segalov


A Brand strategist is likely to work under the Brand Manager or marketing team to ensure a brand message that is consistent. The Brand strategist always tries to find different ways of enhancing the branding of a product or service. They also analysis the current market data and trends to enable them to create an accurate marketing plan. Various skills are required to be able to complete this job role effectively such as, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to conduct data by researching current marketing trends.
When looking at a brand strategist there are many different skills that are needed which are both personal and professional skills when completing and doing the job and role of the brand strategist. A brand strategist will need to have high levels of organization skills, team work skills, they will need to patient and as well as hard working.

They reason a brand stagiest will need to have high levels of organisation skills as it they would be trying to represent the brand in the same way on a different number of sides and platforms, a brand strategist will need to know what the company are posting and where to make sure the message is consistent throughout  the campaign. 

A brand stagiest will also need to have high levels of team work skills as they will be working with different teams and departments through out creating there brand to make sure that again their message will be consistent throughout their company and there marketing. With poor team work skills it will mean that the different departments may not work well together leading to breakdown and communications and the brand its self.
In terms of personal skills, a brand strategist will need to be patient at times. This is because not all the time the brand concept and idea may not always work as they need to trust there superiors and preserve through. On top of this they would also need to be collecting marketing data which can often be time consuming but must be done.

Another skill they would need to be would be to be hardworking, in every job it’s a nescercity that you will have to be hard working, however, it is especially when being a brand strategist as it would mean you would be working hard for long periods of time with a lot of work to do. 
By having all 4 of theses skills it will really help a brand strategist really excel in there career development with in the media industry and will help them to progress up the working ladder.

A brand strategist would need to have passion as a skill in their work to make sure that they are enthusiastic about it and they continue their work even though it didn’t work out or they would have to restart it. Passion is also a very important part of being creative as they would be able to be more willing to take risks and want to do well with their work. 

The final professional skill a Brand Strategist will need is creativity. This is because they need to think of different strategies to promote the product or service they are using to grow their brand. By being using different creative techniques it is more likely that the target audience will be attracted to the product or service being promoted.

A public relations officer is the head of communications, public relations and public affairs within the organisation. the skills needed within this job role are good communication skills to be able to help confrontation within the business.

What does the job entail?
The Job entails keeping up effective communication with stakeholders of the government agency within a Media advertising sector. They will liaise will and communicate with other government departments and other suppliers. They will need to aid and develop the ONS's media strategies. The person will need to respond to questions from stakeholders on media relations and overall queries on the department.

What are the opportunities?
The person can develop relations with journalists, bloggers and media producers, this means the person develops contacts in the industry through networking. The person will also be developing their communication skills with colleagues and counterparts. They will also be able to develop their media intervention skills through the role.

What skills are needed for this job and how can they progress further?
One of the skills needed for a public relations officer is communication. This is because communication is needed when communicating with stakeholders of government agencies.They also need to communicate with advertising roles such as the legal team/casting director so that the correct things are being said.
Another skill that is needed is good leadership skills. This is so that they can sort out any confrontations that may be hoaxing within the business between other workers. Leadership skills within this job role are important a a public relations officer as it involves someone gaining understanding and support for clients, as well as trying to influence opinion and behaviour. Therefore this not only links with leadership, but also communication.
A skill that is needed for a public relations officer is resilience. Resilience will enable the public relations officer to keep on top of all the tasks given by the management. As they will be dealing with a lot of people/potential backlash, it is important for someone in this role not to get offended.
The final skill a public relations officer needs is focus. If the public relations officer is able to focus on the problem may have with another he will be abel to resolve the issue quicker.
The public relations officer will be able to progress if they are consistently working to the best ability and continue to show great leadership skills. By delegating 

How can someone move up higher within this job role?
By working hard and doing the job successfully the person can get promoted to head of the ONS's media department. They can also transfer to a different government agency/department for a promotion.


What does the job entail?
The job requires the person to work company client contacts, the director of the advertising department as well as developing  business clients. They will also need to work with their colleagues to identify and develop investors to support PR events. Having huge investments allows the budget department to complete their job successfully.

What are the opportunities?
The person will communicate with stakeholders of the business, they will talk to media contacts of the business as well as local members of the community. They will develop their communication skills by working with colleagues and outside counterparts and other stakeholders to respond to them. They could also learn a bit of Mandarin on the job as they will work with a lot of Chinese people.

What skills are needed for this job and how can they progress further?
A skill a PR manager is going to have is communications. they need to be able to communicate well to be able to have a good experience with their clients.
The PR officer is going to need good team work skills. This is so that they are able to work with their colleagues to get tasks done effectively. They will also need good time management to be in control of meetings and ensure that people working around them are completing their jobs within the correct time slots. As advertising works quickly and efficiently, it is important to support the other teams so they are willing to work with you again.
The PR officer will need creativity. They will need creativity because they need to set up a PR event for Chinese investors so it will have to be of a high standard. They will also need to be passionate in order to complete their role with heart and soul.
The final skill a PR officer will need to bring support to the team. Bringing support will motivate the colleges to be able to do work as best as they possibly can.
To progress in this job role they will have to work as hard as they can and show that they can be a good leader within a team.
